Dark Brown Sugar Wins Again

Connections of the impressive mare, Dark Brown Sugar, can only think it’s onwards and upwards from here after the mare won two races from
as many starts this preparation.

Having been tipped the 'best bet of the day' by ‘The Early Mail', Dark Brown Sugar, carrying a hefty 58kg, devastated her opposition at Wyong
on Sunday the 28th November, winning by an impressive 2.8 lengths.

Jumping from barrier 3, Dark Brown Sugar got back as far as second last in the running, but with a patient ride from top female jockey
Kathy O'Hara, she circled the field with ease on the home turn and drew clear for an effortless win leaving her rivals in her wake.

Even though she was racing above her grade she rightfully started at $1.50 and got as short as a $1.35 in the betting, but punters kept
coming for her as the Scott Singleton trained mare by Pendragon undoubtedly looked the best horse parading in the yard.

Two weeks after her impressive win at Wyong the mare strode away for a consecutive win at Hawkesbury on their cup day, 8th of November, in
the 1400m Class 2 Handicap. Bookmakers were right when they started the mare at $2.15 favourite as once again she proved too classy for
her opposition, winning by a cool 2 lengths.

Trainer Scott Singleton says, “She has always had a lot of ability which she showed when she won her maiden at Randwick by 6 lengths last
year, but just lacked a little bit of confidence and maturity. Hopefully she will have gained that confidence in her two wins this prep. My staff have worked really hard to keep her happy and it’s showing in the race results’’.

Dark Brown Sugar will again be targeting a metropolitan race in the coming weeks.
