Melbourne Column by George Lucas

The Colin Little stable will be represented by Soft Sand in the ALH Group Plate, 1100m, on her home track. Make no mistake, she's a seriously talented Group class filly, who had no luck at her last 2 outings before being freshened up. Stick with her all prep, there's a good win in her somewhere. Tuesday morning she worked over 1000m in 1.05.50, home last 600m in 36.62. On class alone she'll be hard to hold out here.

Riviere has been off the scene for 12 months. Injury plagued galloper with above average ability when right. Tuesday she worked home last 800m in 52.40, last 600m in 38.52.
The Robert Smerdon trained Your Excellency is due for a change in luck and gets his chance to break through in Adeliade, where he'll contest the Brian Johns Memorial Hcp, 1000m. Second up here, this doesn't look a strong race on paper, i'd expect him to be in the mix the whole way. Wasn't pushed too hard on Tuesday morning, galloping over 800m in 53.45 and 39.25 last 600m.
Like the way the Peter Moody trained Clinton Affair scored on debut at Donald, trouncing his rivals by a widening 2.5L margin to the line. He's always shown a lot of talent on the training track, having won several jumpouts by big margins, always running time. Steps up in grade here and deserves a crack at this level.

Prince Stratum worked well on Tuesday morning over 800m, clocking 51.15 and 38.20 last 600m. One for the multiples at odds.
Tai Tai Tess got a little too far back last start in Adelaide, just failing to reel them in over the concluding stages. Super run on face value, look out for her in the Jimjoca Cup, 1600m. Biggest concern is the 59kg she'll have to lump on her back, however, she has drawn the right barrier. Tuesday morning she worked home last 1000m in 1.08.83 and 38.64 last 600m.

Lakers Bay just failed to salute last start when stepping up to Saturday grade. Fitter for that run and definitely capable of repeating that effort. She worked nicely on Tuesday morning over 1200m, clocking 1.18.55 and 12.68 last furlong.
Brochette's work was  excellent on Tuesday morning (3rd emergency here). She worked over 1400m in 1.36.29 and 36.49 last 600m.
Roses In The Glen ran a cracking race first up at Flemington over 1200m. Fitter for the run and worth following in the Catanach's Hcp, 1400m. Was given an easy time on the track on Tuesday, running over 1000m in 1.04.21 and 39.63 last 600m. Stablemate Stratigraphy worked over 1200m in 1.19.21 and 11.93 last furlong.

Club Command should be ready to fire here second up. He worked very well leading into this on Tuesday, running over 1000m in 1.04.25 and a slick 36.22 last 600m.
Cosmic Causeway will contest the last race on the card, the Court Jester Hotel Hcp, 1600m. He wasn't pushed too hard on Tuesday morning over 1200m, clocking 1.22.63 and 36.91 last 600m.

Eclair Surprise is working into form, 3rd up from a spell here. Could be one at nice odds here and still one to follow this time in. He worked over 1200m in 1.23.48 and 39.84 last 600m. Well worth an each way ticket and one for the multiples.
