Orange District Storm Cat Sire Fires At Perth Meeting

26-11-2011

Moved to Argyle this year, Marechal is a proven sire with 65 winners to his credit headed by Grand Duels (10 wins, $787,210, four Listed stakes wins, two Group1 thirds).

THE impressive run in Western Australia by the modestly used powerfully bred importation Mosayter (Storm Cat – Bashayer, by Mr. Prospector), one transferred from the west last year to Louise Ellis’s expanding Argyle Thoroughbreds stud and agistment farm at Panuara near Orange central western New South Wales, continued on Saturday when two of his 3-year-olds, Roman Knows, the winner, and Final Cut, fought out finish of a 1500m event on the Ascot program.

Running for the eighth time and having his second win in nine days, Roman Knows was the fourth individual winner by Mosayter in Perth in November. Runner up Final Cut, 2.3 lengths ahead of the third placegetter, won at Ascot on November 19, the same program on which another of the offspring, Solsay, was a close third in an Open sprint. Solsay has won three of seven starts, including one by 1.75 lengths on Ascot on November 5.

The other Mosayter Perth winner during the month has been Mr Moet and he has been successful at Ascot twice in the period, appearances on November 1 and 5. He has won five of 15 starts and been second on three occasions.

Mosayter (fee $4,400) stands at Argyle with Marechal (fee $2,200), a Sydney Listed winner by Danehill Golden Slipper winner Danzero inbred to Star Kingdom and from a daughter of a mare by America’s illustrious iron horse Round Table. The latter is from the same family as Mosayter.
